Cincinnati Bengals Send Tank Johnson to Injured Reserve and Sign Fred Bennett

The Bengals just recently made some roster moves and now they are having to place a DT on Injured Reserve.  Defensive tackle Tank Johnson is being placed on IR due to a sprained knee that he suffered almost a month ago on October 31 in the game against the Miami Dolphins.  The sprained knee caused seven-year veteran Johnson to miss the past three NFL games with the Bengals.  He did record 10 tackles within his first seven games with Cincinnati this year.

To take Johnson’s place on the Bengals active roster, Cincinnati signed cornerback Fred Bennett, who was drafted by the Texans in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft.  Bennett is a four-year veteran and h played with the Houston Texans from 2007 to 2009.  In 40 games with Houston, he recorded 123 tackles, 21 defensive passes and five tackles before being released in training camp earlier this year at the end of August.  The San Diego Chargers picked him up and he played with the Chargers for the first four games of the 2010 NFL season, who released him last month.

Looking into the future for hope…don’t waste your time.  It’s Tuesday and their next game is Thursday on Turkey Day against the New York Jets, which means that Bennett doesn’t have ample amount of time to learn the entire team’s playbook and be able to fully comprehend every play.  I don’t think they’ll be able to stop the losing streak of seven games but we’ll see.
