France Preliminary World Cup Roster Shockers
Many see France’s Karim Benzema as one of the best players in the country; however, apparently coaches didn’t think he was great enough. He did not find himself on the 30-man roster for France this week. Benzema has had his share of controversy this season getting caught up in a prostitution scandal that he allegedly was involved in as well as a less than impressive season. Majority of the season, he was sitting on the bench rather than out on the field playing. His unimpressive playing season is supposedly the reason that the coach didn’t choose him to be part of the 30-man preliminary roster rather than his alleged contribution in the above-mentioned scandal.
Samir Nasri has shown some skill and expertise in the last few months of the season, but it apparently wasn’t enough for the coach to choose him as part of the preliminary roster for France. He will have to wait four more years before he can show his skill in the World Cup.
2006 All-Star World Cup team in 2006 included Patrick Vieira, who has been the captain of France’s team since the year 2006. He has had more than 100 appearances worldwide but was unable to make a large enough impression on the coach to make this year’s World Cup preliminary France roster.
A shocker of who actually made the 30-man roster is Thierry Henry. His current play against Barcelona wasn’t exactly impressive, but apparently the coach saw something that he thinks Henry can provide the team in South Africa for the World Cup.
