Miami Heat Loses Another Player to Drugs
The Miami Heat has just recently taken a blow when they found out that Michael Paul Beasley was addicted to some kind of illegal substance. Michael Beasley posted some things on Twitter that created a stir, and his fans did not know exactly what to think when they read the remarks. After he posted those comments, his Twitter account was closed.
Michael Beasley is now in Rehab, and they are hoping that it will help him get over the problems he is having. Some claim that the signs were there for awhile and others claim that there were no signs at all. Beasley was very popular during his rookie year, scoring an average of 13.9 points per game, to go with 5.4 boards.. His stats were very close to the best in the game. They were actually considered the second best, Close behind Dwayne Wade.
They say that they thought he was, for the most part, just maturing and that he may not have known exactly what he was doing. He had done a lot of things recently to prove himself. He had also gotten really involved in some discussions about a possible trade.
Last year, Beasley also got hit hard when Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers were thrown out because they had two women in their resort hotel room. It was pretty bad. Marijuana could be smelt for hours and it was amazing that Beasley would not even help out when the investigation was ongoing. He paid the price later, though, when he got a huge fine for the price of $50,000, while Arthur and Chalmers each got another big fine of $20,000.
Fans also claim that power and money might have started affecting him. He is still very young and might have lacked the full maturity to be able to handle the money and power that he had achieved.
Shawn Kemp is a prime example of what can happen when a young person suddenly becomes rich and famous. He became a cocaine addict and is now on the road to recovery from it. But because of his addiction, he lost everything.
Officials are unsure of how long it will take Beasley to recover but at least he is finally taking the right steps. It’s a shame for someone to actually struggle and go through that, since they think that they are alone, when they actually aren’t.
Beasley has had an effect on how people are now betting on NBA teams. Some fans are getting fed up with so many disastrous players that they are losing faith in the NBA, yet the NBA is still holding on to some players who will continue remaining loyal to them, no matter what happens in the end.
