The State Of Delaware Loses Out on Sports Betting

The state of Delaware is recovering from a big shock, as a panel that had only three judges told them that they could not allow sports betting anymore. Delaware and the people in Delaware are not happy about this at all. Not only was sports betting something really big in the state, but it also helped bring in some money for the state, and Delaware really needed that extra money.

There are some people that moved to the state of Delaware just so they could join in on Sports Betting, since it was legal there. Now they are wondering if they should move somewhere else.
Sept. 1 was the date that the state of Delaware was going to officially start allowing people to bet on sports.. It was projected that Delaware would raise around $53 million annually. Not only would it make around that much, but it would also create jobs for the state. These jobs are much needed right now because people are still struggling with money. Without the sports betting going on, these jobs will be cut in half, and some might lose their’s because of it.

The other side of the story is that people feel the panel of judges was way too small. It should have had more judges rather than only three. If it would have had more judges, Delaware might have stood a chance at winning the case.

The NCAA, NHL, NBA and NFL held a hearing that lasted two hours. They all spoke up against sports betting in the state of Delaware and voiced why they believed it should not be legal. Maybe the vote happened because of how many spoke so passionately against the betting, or maybe not. The panel could have easily felt overwhelmed by so many people coming up and speaking against it.

People in Delaware should not lose total faith right now. If it wishes, the state can appeal the ruling in two weeks. If this happens, there might be a trial in the month of December.   If that goes forward, a lot of people in the state of Delaware will be keeping their fingers crossed.

The state of Delaware is in the process of making history, depending on what they decide to do. If they successfully appeal the ruling, it could change a lot of things. People all over are hoping that they will appeal it, especially the people that might lose their jobs because of the court striking down the Delaware sports betting law.

Other states are starting to get disgusted with so many betting laws being enforced. In other countries, you can bet and you won’t get into trouble for it. They also feel like it violates their freedom in some ways. The USA is suppose to be a free state, and if something as huge as this is denied by their government, people will begin to wonder where exactly the freedom is.

The good news is that the State of Delaware can still parlay wager. This angers the state even more, since in the year 1976 they actually stopped parlaying because it did not bring in enough money, and people just don’t enjoy that as much.
